This is a recipe that is the most requested dessert in our house. I tend to only make it on special occasions or for holiday dinners - not sure why, because it's incredibly easy to make. You can make it ahead and freeze it until you need it or make it the day ahead and leave it in your fridge. I've changed it a bit over the years and we now have this version that is nut free. You see this recipe with a nut base quite often and that is how I used to make it, until we had some nut allergies arrive into our family. We've decided that we like this one better - why? I'm sure it's because there's more chocolate (we are a chocolate loving family). So, if you're wanting a light, fluffy, chocolately, easy dessert for your Easter table - this is a winner:)
So, let's get to it.....
Bottom layer Mix together and press into a 9"x12" baking dish 2 1/2 c. oreo crumbs 1/2 c. butter Pop this into the freezer for about 1/2 hour (this makes spreading the next layer so much easier)
2nd layer Beat together 8 oz cream cheese (room temp) 1 c. icing sugar Spread over oreo crumbs
3rd layer Top with 1/2 container of Cool Whip Topping
4th layer Mix together until smoothish (this sets quickly so don't spend too much time stirring this) 1 small package vanilla pudding 1 small package chocolate pudding 3 cups milk
5th layer *Make sure your pudding layer is set Top with the rest of the cool whip
Final touch - optional grate a dairy milk bar and sprinkle over the top (use as much or as little as you like)
